Patch 1: lit children, a louder way out, and a proper "How to play"

Thank you to everyone playing The Cradle: Trick-or-Treat, and to the stream viewers who pointed these out. We watched a stream, saw three problems, and fixed all three.

A child at the door is never lost in the dark

Sometimes a child who opened the door looked like it wasn’t there, or stood with a black, unreadable face. The child was always there. It just wasn’t lit: the room’s bulb hung right above it, and a few rooms have no working bulb at all. Every child who answers now catches the warm light from the corridor on their face, at every door and on every device, phones included.

You can hear the way out

The party record that leads you to the exit was too quiet, muffled by the walls, and drowned out by Nanny’s humming. Some corners of the labyrinth didn’t hear it at all. The record is now louder, reaches the whole labyrinth, and still sounds like a tune through a wall. Nanny’s hum is quieter and closer, and the chase music has come down a little. Her footsteps and her roar are as loud as they were, so she is still very much behind you.

A proper “How to play”

The card at the start of a game used to close with E without telling you. It is now a short “How to play”: knock on the doors, run for the orange light when it’s Nanny (her striped sweet is worth two), hide in a wardrobe and hold your breath, plus one worked example of how to read the doors. Its button tells you how to close it on whatever you’re playing with: the E key, the A button on a controller, or “Tap to start” on a phone. The sweet wrappers say how to close them too.

Your saves, records and achievements carry over. If you spot anything else, tell us in the comments or on Discord: https://discord.gg/ufYtrP3NRk

Happy Halloween!
